As early as Chris can recall he would have a pencil and paper drawing family and life going on around him. As he got older the Staffordshire countryside became a whole world of possible images for him to draw. His work was shown in many local galleries and he took part in local competitions with great success, this led to commissioned work also In pencil.
This work although popular in the local galleries , was not allowing him to move forward in his art career, so he began to experiment with oil paints. Being totally self taught, his style and skill developed with each piece, and a love of still life and portraiture emerged. He love the freedom of oil painting and aimed to produce colourful striking images of everyday things turning them into something of high impact. He says "I've always been attracted to images with strong contrast with plenty of light and shadow, this probably stems from my days as a pencil artist"
He has now developed a style that Is recognizable as his own and with a great number of fine art galleries representing his work throughout the U.K his collectors and supporters have grown, Including celebrity clients such as Eastenders and Coronation street actors Rita Simons and Ryan Thomas.
Chris has also attended a number of celebrity charity events where he has donated work for auction and last year alone raised well over £10,000 for charity during these events. It was during this time that Liverpool FC approached him to paint there clubs crest the Liverbird, this painting was then signed by all the Liverpool squad and auctioned for The Christie cancer hospital and raised £6,000.Liverpool FC have since gone on to commission Chris to paint a commemorative painting to celebrate Steven Gerrard's 100 Caps with England and 600 caps with Liverpool. Chris Is always looking to improve upon his work and studies traditional oil painting methods and regularly attempts new techniques
Chris Says "My work is very much realism, although I like to maintain a sense that it is a painting and not a photograph, and upon close inspection the viewer Is able to see the subtle paint strokes and textures that go into each piece"
